My kids were showing me some of the things they have on facebook, where people who visit their (Bloggy thing, facebook) have to feed their fish. If they don’t generate enough visitors who feed their fish I think they end up dying. Well I haven’t even visited my blog since September so those fish would be well and truely smelling if they lived here. LOL. I have been busy though making quite a bit and doing some round robins. I won’t go backwards and post what I have done. I will however aim to put a little something up each day….yes I know that you have heard all that before…but I will make an really good effort. LOL> well I am off to bed…it is 4.56am and I haven’t slept yet. The grandkiddies will be here at 8 so I best away. Until tomorrow. Cheerio for now. Lindy
Those of you who live on the east coast of Australia would have to say we have been having glorious weather. You know the little bird that hatched quite some weeks ago…well the mother is sitting back on her nest again. Last year there were two eggs and 2 birds hatched about October. This year 2 eggs but only one bird hatched. Maybe that is why she is going back again??? I will have to ask my brother. He is just so clever and knows so much about birds.
Now…what have I been doing since we last spoke. Emmm I turned 49. And I have made a couple more handtowels for my sister as well as worked on a Crazy Patchwork Fans Round Robin. Oh and you know the Keziah’s CP block. Well I have decided not to make a quilt out of them as I fairly heavily embellished Keziah’s and Eli’s block. So I ended up making a binder cover so she can put her preschool things in next year. I won’t post a pic of that as I have already posted the block before. I found this lovely crochet bell edging and just had to do it. I think it would look lovely on a xmas handtowel… but I couldn’t wait for that and my sister isn’t into Xmas so I made a white edging on a light green hand towel.
I decided not to put any other emblishment on this handtowel as I just like the bells. I have done a couple of little flowers on the pink one.
I will also post the picture of the block I worked on. I did find it quite difficult to start with as this block is bright and those who know me know I don’t do bright. I wanted to try and tone it down. LOL.. but I decided to jump in boots and all. I crocheted a little fan and then bought out the dyes. I also purchased some nice little sparkly flowers and I thought they went well with it. As this is a Fan RR I embroidered some fan flowers. I know they don’t grow on vines but I liked the vine effect. LOL
It is the long weekend here and I am going up to see my dad and aunty. The grandkids what to come up too so we will be leaving on Saturday afternoon. I best think about what I will take up there to do… I have a thousand things…just deciding which one to take. LOL… Shall catch up with you again. Cheerio for now. Lindy
This week I started on a block swap. But like last week I stuffed up. The swap was to be a 2 block “mended hearts”. You send the blocks off and then when they are swapped you make them into a bag. While mine looks ok it is not what I was meant to do. The hearts are meant to be half one colour and half another. I didn’t feel like making another lot so I pulled out of the swap. I will still use the blocks to make my grandaughter a little library bag. Here is a pic of the blocks.
I did however sew another sewing dilly bag with needlebook, scissor keeper and pinwheel. This will be swapped tomorrow night at one of my land patchwork groups.
This week I also received a lovely crazy patchwork block from Janet from Colarado USA. I had asked one of the groups if there were any swaps going and Janet said she would swap privately with me. How lovely of her to do so. I love all the stitches on the block and the spider is just divine. I am going to make a block book and Janet’s block will go on the front. She also sent me so really great pieces of fabric for my patchwork stash. I haven’t got heaps of CP fabrics…plenty of 100% cotton patchwork stuff though..>LOL. Emm the pieces were brocades and satins. Some with bees, dragonflies and bugs. I can’t wait to use them. Here is a pic of the block. Sorry I have put away the fabrics she sent so you won’t get to see a pic of these.
Oh I was almost ready to sign off then I remembered what else I made. I spent a lovely birthday with my family at my sister’s place. While there she asked that I make her some hand towels for her bathroom. She wanted crochet edges on them. I made one yesterday and put a little embroidered rose on both sides. Here it is too.
I think maybe I should take some photo lessons…ah I am too busy crafting to learn photography and blogging improvements. Sorry all you will just have to cope with what I have.
I hope I have some other new creations to show you next week. I hope you all have a nice week. Thanks for your message Aunty Stella. Cheerio for now.

Well what a week! We have had beautiful weather this week. My grandchildren and I decided it was time to do some gardening. I owned 2 dogs so gardening was often really wasted. But anyway we decided to do some. One Tuesday afternoon we went to Bunnings and bought some plants and planted them. While there I also purchased what I thought was dog friendly snail bait. Alas …someone must have put a packet of the deadly stuff in the friendly stuff. My grandkids and I planted out flowers and then we sat around throwing a ball and watching the dogs play. The next day my husband called in and found one of our dogs quite sick and the other had died. My lovely noisy, mangey, greedy but always happy dog was gone. After 2 days in the vet , Ceda my blue heeler made a recovery. The vet said just as well my Kelpie was greedy as both dogs could have died. How lovely that the kids and I had played ball and such the day of his death. That leaves nice memories for us. Anyway…enough of that. The days are still beautiful and I have been sewing a little.
I have joined a couple more crazy patch round robins. The first will be Japanese 4 block round robin. I have made 4 different blocks. The green block is the modern funky japenese block, the pink is cherry blossom, the blue is tranquil and the burgundy is more traditional. Each person in the swap will get to do a little something on each block before mailing it off onto the next person. Here is a pic of the 4 blocks.
The other one is a bible round robin. I have decided to have plants from the bible. I am intending to make my daughter a bible bag for sabbath school. The other week I picked up a silk scalf. When I was looking through my stash I found it and thought…emmmt that looks like cassia. So of course I have used it. My grandaughter is named Keziah which is also biblical and the name is derived from the Cassia shrub. I will be mailing both these round robins off tomorrow.
The other thing I made this week was a sewing dilly bag. I was intending to swap this but after I finished it all and made the little needlebook and pin holder I realised that the base wasn’t a nice circle….grrrrrr. So now it isn’t going to be swapped. Instead my daughter will get it. I’ll love giving it to my daughter anyway as she has always hated craft, doing it and receiving it. Guess what! She is doing some stitchery and also likes some crafty things. I guess I will have to make another bag to swap next week.
Now….for the very special thing. No… I did not make it but someone else did. When I left work I was always going to make my grandaughter a “theatre trunk” for her dolls clothes. Well I never did get to make it but a friends husband made it. Oh and what a wonderful job. I just love it. I have to paint it and I am intending to put some wallpaper inside it as well. I will post a pic of it when I have finished it. But in the meantime here is a pic.
I will have to get moving if I want to have all the dolls clothes made for xmas. Well that is it for now. Thanks for dropping by. Cheerio for now
Today I mailed off my Crazy Fan block. It is going to be an international swap with each person doing at least one seam treatment and a little something else. I really enjoyed making this. A lovely generous friend gave me some laces and motifs some time back and I have used one of these on my fan. I thought it looked like a fan. . I also made a little fan journal to accompany my fan. I have asked all the participants to also embellish the font of their fan blade and write a little about themselves on the back. The 6 blades are held together with a butterfly wing clip. I can’t post a pic of this as it has all my details on the front.
The bird that hatched outside my bedroom window flew off a couple of days ago. My husband spied it sitting on my car today. How lovely they still call my yard home.

I have finally downloaded and uploaded those pics of my crocheted carnation scissor fob which also houses a thimble and the crochet dolls outfit I made while in Perth. Since coming home I have had a few friends to catch up with. So I haven’t done a whole heap of crafting. I had a dear girlfriend come and stay with me for a week. We have been good friends since early primary school days. Guess what! She is now doing crazy patchwork. LOL. I enjoyed her visit and look forward to her coming again.
I have however finished off a block which I am going to swap with one of the girls I met online. I have enjoyed doing this one. I will mail it of to Colarado on Monday. I scanned the picture of this block so you will have to excuse the quality.
I have a couple of other blocks I have pieced ready to embellish. They will be for a handbag I intend to make. When I start on them I will post some pictures. I did sew up the crazy patchwork pyramid bag tonight. I am going to give this to one of my darling sisters. While she doesn’t doing any sewing she does like to receive some of my things. Her house has more of my stuff then mine. My pyramid bag has cottons and tape measures etc, Raewyns will be filled with her little MP3 player and some spare batteries. I will probably drop it off to her tomorrow.
Well I am going to end off now so I can clean my rats nest up. My computer table has cottons, scissors, ribbons, books, cups, beads you name it is here on this desk. I can’t possible put another thing on it so I best go.
Cheerio for now

I spent almost a month over at Perth taking care of my in laws. My father in law went over there for some radical treatment for his cancers. It is sort of last hope thing. I do hope that it will have a positive affect on him.
While I was over there we stayed in a unit that didn’t even have a phone line so even if I remembered to take a laptop with me I wouldn’t have been able to use it. I would have gotten so much done as the nights were long with nothing much to do.
I did manage to crochet a little dolls outfit for my grandaughter as well as do a few hanky edges and a nice carnation thimble holder which is also a scissor fob. I will post some pictures soon. I haven’t done a great deal more with my crazy patches but now I am home I will get back to it. Next week I am going to dye some lovely lace I bought here on sale. I am really looking forward to that. My daughter and I are also going op shopping next week so hopefully I will have some finds there as well. Tomorrow my husband will be marching in the local fair at Wallsend. He is the captain of the local firebrigade. My son in law is also a fireman there and he will be marching with my 2 grandchildren. I will put some pics up of them marching soon. Well I am off to do some emails. Until next time.
Cheerio for now..Lindy
Hi again all. I have done a bit of crafting since we last spoke but not as much as I normally do. I have made a tape measure for a swap and another pincushion.
(if you click on the pics they will enlarge)
I have also embroidered another belle and I have started ANOTHER new project.
You would think that I would learn ….with all those UFO’s I have. Well what is another project. The new project is a crazy patch memory quilt. Each block will have a member of my family. 3 Grandkids, 3 children, hubby, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, mum, dad, my maternal grandmother, and my 3 maternal aunties. So far I have sew 3 blocks of the grandchildren and I have just finished embellishing my grandaughters. Emmm I just realised I haven’t put her name and DOB on it. As I get them done I will post them.
As I am fairly new to Crazy patchwork I thought it would be a good way to gain experience and improve on my skills. It will be good to see the progress of my skills in each block…well let’s hope that is how it goes. LOL.
The other night my family and I went in to see the Pasha Bulka…being manouvered and then towed out to sea. This ship was washed up on one of our beaches in the bad storm. They did a very good job in moving it without any damage to our beach. It was nice for the kids to be part of our local history. I was there 33 years ago when another ship (Sygma) was washed up on our shores. Unfortunately it couldn’t be salvaged and it is rusting along our coast. Thankfully not on a popular beach like the Pasha was.
Yesterday my 2 grandchildren and I went exploring around the bushing parts of our suburbs. We were gone for 4 hours. I have to say I was sore when I got home. But we had so much fun. Well I am off to work on Eli’s crazy block now.
Cheerio again
Catch you soon
Well what a week. You may have heard that last Friday Newcastle had some bad storms and flooding. Thankfully we weren’t affected, nor were my children and their homes. Sad times for some though. My hubby is a fireman and he was out from 8am Friday morning til around 2ish Saturday morning. It was a bit worrying with him out but he came home safe and sound.
On the crafting scene… I joined a belle swap. You were to embroider a belle (pattern link provided). I was thinking of doing red and black or maybe green and pink. My swap partner told me her favourite colour is red so red it was. “No black please”. I started to do some embroidery and when I went out to the back craft room…. (yes I have a front and a back craft room)… not to mention all the other rooms I tend to take over. LOL> Anyway back to it…when I went out the back I saw some red lace hanging out a box… so red lace is what I used too. I think she is lovely. I will be sending her off this week.
(if you click on the pictures they enlarge)
I also belong to a crazy patchwork on line group which swap hearts. I am only fairly new to Crazy Patchwork (CP). I did make some hearts and swapped them when I first joined but I haven’t made any for so long. Well I am back at it again. Here are some hearts I have made this week.
I think I have made about 6 in all.
With winter here our floor boards get cold. I have decided to use some of my some of my scrap wool up and make slippers for everyone to wear. I tried buying slippers but who wants to put their feet into other people’s shoes… These slippers are so warm and they can get thrown into the wash as soon as you finish with them..ready for the next visitor.
Well that is it for now.
Cheerio …Lindy
Guess what. I have often read how girls go into the op shops and find laces and beads etc. Mind you I do have good finds but never laces. Well today after I took my grandaughter for her swimming lessons we ventured down town and visited a couple of op shops. I found this green tafeta type fabric with lots of black lace on it. I was actually looking for white lace to dye but I was very excited with this find. I have taken all the lace off and there is heaps. I also found some a lovely mulberry dress .
I haven’t cut it into 6″ squares yet. I will probably do that tomorrow. On closer inspection I see that it has some stretch to it. I also found a lovely tatted doiley. The lady looked at it and said… oh that little thing …you can have that. WOW! that was the best think and it cost me nothing.
Oh and I almost forgot. I got a little bag with stuff in it for $1. Inside was some zips, a partly done stamped tray cloth (I unpicked while at swimming)
, elastic, buttons, buckles and some lovely vintage lace. The lace is only about 12″ long but lovely. It is a cream colour and I was thinking of dying it but the more I look at it the more I would like to keep it that colour, blemishes and all. Oh well I will just have to wait until I need to use it and I guess it will speak to me again and let me know what to do. ![]()
Oh I forgot to mention the quilts I posted yesterday. I bought the panels from spotlight and put 2 borders on them. I have another one I have finished (my daughter has already taken it home without me taking a pic). I will post it later. You will see that I am still to quilt Keziah’s. I am hoping to get that finished this week.
K…well I am off again. I joined another swap last night so I will start work on that. Will post a pic of it later.
Cheerio for now
